George Tinning has a wide range of experience in cool and tropical environments. He excels in garden renovations and all areas of garden maintenance. He has operated Desert-Rose Enterprises for over 12 years in Kununurra with numerous private, corporate and government clients. George studied an advanced certificate in horticulture and has furthered his studies with subjects from Charles Sturt University in Plant Science and landscape design.
He started his career working at Weiss Nursery in the Blue Mountains. He then married and moved to Kununurra Western Australia where he was the head gardener at Lake Argyle and managed Sandalwood Nursery. After studying the environment and the local flora he established Desert-Rose Enterprises. The business grew quickly and he was able to obtain ongoing contracts with Centrelink, Tafe, Department of Housing, NAB bank, Landcorp, CWD – Colin Wilkinson Development, Marvick Constructions and Monsoon Architects. George's desire to instill his passion in others saw him take a role at Kununurra TAFE teaching horticulture. He has now moved back to NSW and is transitioning Desert-Rose Enterprises to the beautiful Southern Highlands. To learn about the environment and flora in the Southern Highlands, George has studied under Miran at Mirador Landscapes where he has again established himself as an all rounder in garden renovations and maintenance. He has now re-established Desert-Rose Enterprises in the Southern Highlands and already has a number of regular clients. |
“A garden should make you feel you've entered privileged space -- a place not just set apart but reverberant -- and it seems to me that, to achieve this, the gardener must put some kind of twist on the existing landscape, turn its prose into something nearer poetry.”
― Michael Pollan, Second Nature: A Gardener's Education |
